Learn with us from the New Testament

Today was our second New Testament class at the college.  We had new students enroll so the class is about the perfect size for discussion.  We talked about Mary and Joseph and what kind of character they had to be asked by an angel to do hard things.  They were both willing!  Then applying that to our lives.  Are we willing to do whatever the Lord asks of us?  It could be that we are asked to live higher standards than those of the world around us.  It could be a calling...which would require us to be strong spiritually and work outside of our comfort zone.  It could be a life of illness or pain, when we would prefer to be active and healthy.  I was impressed that both Mary and Joseph were willing to take their "callings" and do it now!  It said that Joseph got up from his dream and went right then to take Mary as his wife.  Mary did not hesitate to do what the Lord had asked of her saying, "Be it unto me according to thy word."  How often are we willing to put our lives in perfect harmony with what the Lord has given us to do?

I was impressed to see how many times Joseph received revelation to protect his family.  So are we receiving revelation today for our lives?  Maybe not by an angel coming...but I believe each of us can have revelation for our lives and our family.  We have an opportunity this weekend to listen to our Prophet and the Apostles for our day...are we listening?  Then are we willing to follow their counsel? Do we have willing hearts ready to obey? or does the world call out to us?

We are so blessed to have the Gospel of Jesus Christ restored in it's perfect form upon the Earth today.  We have men and women who have been called to guide us through perilous times....Listen on Saturday and Sunday to their words then write down what the Holy Spirit tells you.

I loved Elder Uchtdorf's talk at the first session of conference:

I invite all  of you to listen/view it again!
