Do-gooders stuck in the snow!

What a memory for the mission!  We went delivering plates of goodies to YSA who do not attend Institute...to invite them for next semester.  Our area covers 5 stakes! So we went out several miles away and climbed in elevation, to find some youth that still may live at home.

We also had a young man a week ago, ask if we could give him a ride to the Christmas Dinner and activity.  (Dean had volunteered earlier to help him get into activities.)  So we decided to deliver plates of cookies and brownies out in his area.

Wouldn't you know, today was the day it decided to snow, and SNOW A LOT!  We had snow up to the door of our car!  Jason lives in an area which is kind of mountainous.  His neighborhood is up a hill and the neighborhood road is down a good hill with two cut-de-sac streets at the bottom.  We found Jason but there was so much snow by the time we found him we could not get traction to make it up the hill.  There was black ice under all that snow.  When the tires would spin we could not get out!  OH BROTHER!  We had 4 adult men pushing the car and I was driving-UGGGGGH!  We could not make the hill. About two-thirds of the way up the car would go no further.  So Jason's dad came to the rescue.  He had a 4WD vehicle but could not get us out, the incline and the black ice underneath caused problems with our dumb car!  Anyway, Jason's dad gave us his suburban and said to take it home and we could just leave our car along the road until it thawed more.  We took him up on his offer (such an amazing man)  We were rescued by a real "Saint"!

We prayed that the weather would warm up enough for us to get our car out!  Next day, the weather app said it was 40 degrees in North Bend and raining!  So we took the Suburban to Costco and filled it up with gas (as appreciation for their kindness) I made them a pan of cinnamon pull-parts and we headed out.  When we got to Jason's neighborhood it was snowing again!  Dean and I said another prayer to plead for help getting out.  Dean left me with the suburban and he was able to drive up and out!  The black ice under the snow had melted even if there was still several inches of snow.  Wow, what a blessing, with more snow coming!  Thank you HEAVENLY FATHER!  Now, I get in the driver's side and try to get the suburban up the road!  Uhhhh nope!  I got stuck at the bottom of the hill.   I tried and tried but could not get a run up!  I was stuck!  I had it in 4WD but it did not appear to work!  So I prayed again!   Soon, I see MR. Missionary Baxter come walking and sliding down the road to see why I never came!  I am THANKFUL again!  Prayers are answered!  He got in and figured out the problem.  We went sloshing up the hill and made it out.  We could not stop on the incline so continued up and around the top to where it was flat.  There was a little mazda car coming out of a side street and he stopped so we could get by.  But then he was stuck!   This was a teenage boy...he rolled his window down and gave us a glare!  So Dean rolled our window down and asked if we could push his car to get him going...(his look softened at the offer of help) then he looked at two old gray haired people and said "NO!" I will get it.  Hmmm.
So sorry to cause him trouble! But thankful to be out and able to move.
