We learned that the SamValley YSA have been asked to help Santa.
So we volunteered! We went to meet one of Santa's helpers. They are the perfect Mr. & Mrs. Claus.
They have been Santa's helpers for over ten years and are getting older. There is so much work to do decorating and getting ready, so the YSA (Becca L) volunteered to help. She advertised it on Facebook and voila there are volunteers...including us!
We put lights on the trees, lighted garland on the railing, candles, snowmen and gingerbread people, stars and candy canes all around to make it festive! We helped straw the spot for the nativity and placed Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus in the center. The Star hung high above them and a little angel nearby. The shepherds and wise men were looking on.
It is their tradition to invite all the neighborhoods around them over for the official lighting. They all bring finger food and come to sing Christmas Carols and watch the lights turn on. The crowds are invited in and Santa comes for free pictures! It is a fun tradition and we liked helping....even in the rain! It rained the whole time! We were dressed in rain jackets but the rain still gets in.
Cold and Happy were we!
